An Authentic, Multi-generational Australian Labradoodle is a carefully developed breed that began in the late 1980s with the goal of creating a hypoallergenic service dog. Initially, this breed was a cross between an Australian Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle. Over time, to enhance traits such as temperament, coat quality, and size, additional breeds including the Irish Water Spaniel, American and English Cocker Spaniels, and Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier were infused. This multi-generational breeding resulted in what is known today as the Authentic Australian Labradoodle, distinct from earlier, simpler Labradoodle crosses.

The Australian Labradoodle is known for its intelligent and friendly nature, coupled with a low-shedding, hypoallergenic coat that makes it suitable for families with allergies. The breed is officially recognized by organizations like the Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association (WALA), which upholds strict breeding standards to maintain the breed’s unique qualities. Unlike other “doodles,” an Authentic Australian Labradoodle has a consistent lineage that excludes new breed infusions post-2010. The breed comes in three sizes—miniature, medium, and standard—and is celebrated for its reliability, intelligence, and therapeutic qualities.
